Astrophytum asteriasThe perfect pattern of the compact Astrophytum asterias is hypnotic. Native to areas of Mexico and Texas, USA, its spineless body is much depressed. Often found nestled in the ground almost completely buried amongst the sand, this particular Astrophytum grows in the shade of its neighbours. Hard to spot due to its grey green shades blending in with its rocky surroundings, this mysterious little plant is commonly known as sand dollar cactus.
