Iceberg V, GreenlandThe arch formed at the waterline of this iceberg was large enough to kayak through, though I wouldn't recommend it. Icebergs of this scale are constantly calving and shifting, and what looks stable can roll without warning. The water in Ilulissat Icefjord was remarkably still when I made this photograph, almost black against the blue white of the ice. What drew me was the light passing through that aperture at the base.
